Back to Tongatapu and Auckland

Clouds rain and wind during the night and at sunrise there is little chance that we will fly. The wind is SW 5-6 and the sea is choppy. Fortunately we do not have to take the ferry as most people that we spoke to have a bad experience with it. We pack everything and ask other persons how New Zealands’ customs are, as we want to take shells with us. Declaring things is better than being caught without having mentioned anything. In the afternoon the weather clears a bit and Tongatapu is visible. The little plane is full with seven passengers and a lot of luggage and Elmer happens to sit next to the pilot! Although it is still windy the flight is stable. Anna is waiting at the other end and takes us to Nuku’ alofa town where we stay at French Café. PacificBlue flight DJ 178 to Auckland, New Zealand departs just before midnight and lasts three hours. New Zealand time is one hour later but before we are in our hotel and lay in our bed it is a quarter to five! The weather in NZ is clear skies and about 5 degrees plus, quite a change.

Perfect blue sky and max 12 degrees.

Calm southerly wind, <3 B. Infinite visibility. After 4 hours rest the hotel room in down town Auckland got early wake up call by a painting company. The previous eveningwe had noticed that the windows were unlocked and the curtains bound together. The painters are actively marching up and down and cause some disturbance to state it polite. The boys expected to be out of the city again (some cormorant coast or so) but the remark that the famous skytower was within sight of the room made them smile! We spend the day in downtown Auckland. Everything very clean and beautiful buildings of modern architecture! The skytower is 322m high and we have been up to two third of this. Great view across the city and a wonderful sunset at that altitude! Now the journey almost has come to an end.

Auckland and homeward bound!

Again super weather, a high pressure system gives sunny weather but cold, again calm southerlies and 12 degrees max. Morning Auckland museum in the park, 2 pm to the airport to get the 5 pm flight to Melbourne. Thank you all for your interest to follow us and give your reactions! We have appreciated to hear from you and will be soon in contact again. We have noticed that our writings have been viewed many times, also by other people. We have had a great time and surely need some rest but the memories are already now unforgettable.
